What is the Matlai honeymoon package?
The Matlai honeymoon package is an add-on to the half-board room rate, at a fixed price per stay: Matlai Tatu adds US$300, Matlai Tano Superior US$600, Matlai Saba Deluxe US$680 and Matlai Kumi Exclusive US$860. The nights in their names (3, 5, 7 and 10) are our suggestion for how to fill the days; you can book any package for any length of stay, also for an anniversary. Each package includes everything in the shorter ones, and the price is per stay for the two of you.

What does a honeymoon cost in total?
Take 5 nights in a Villa Kidosho suite in high season 2026: 5 × US$730 is US$3,650 for the suite with breakfast and dinner, plus US$600 for Matlai Tano Superior, which makes US$4,250 for the two of you. The Zanzibar infrastructure tax adds US$4 per person per night, US$40 for your stay, and the airport transfer is paid to the driver.

Which room suits a honeymoon?
Every room in the hotel is made for two; these three are the ones couples ask about most.
Mwezi
Villa Kidosho, the right suite: the same terrace, swing bed and garden shower as Jua, in the softer evening tones of the moon.
Maji
Asili House, ground floor: no stairs, a balcony facing the ocean and a Pemba-grass terrace facing the garden.
In Villa Kidosho the suites share one pool. It is yours alone only when you book both suites, which is the whole villa.
What does a 7-night honeymoon look like?
Here is one way Matlai Saba Deluxe can run over seven nights. Your butler plans each day with you around the tide and the weather, so the order is yours to change.
- Day 1: the “Flying Matlai” cocktail when you arrive, your room decorated, and a bottle of sparkling wine.
- Day 2: a Matlai Massage each, side by side at Bustani Spa, then a slow afternoon.
- Day 3: breakfast in bed, and a private candlelight dinner in the evening.
- Day 4: a floating breakfast in the villa pool, and a private seafood barbecue at night.
- Day 5: the sunset sailing cruise on Chwaka Bay.
- Day 6: two more massages each, of your choice, spread over the stay as you like.
- Day 7: the bath and massage ritual for two, and a private open-air cinema evening.

What is the sunset cruise?
A sailing trip at sundown on Chwaka Bay, towards Michamvi Kae, with the drive back by car. One beer each, soft drinks and fruit are on board.
What are the terms?
- The package is added to the seasonal room rate; it is a price per stay for the two guests of one booking.
- Every package is based on half board, breakfast and dinner.
- It cannot be combined with other offers, such as the 10% early-bird or last-minute discount.
- Some items need notice, for example a day ahead for the floating breakfast; your butler plans them with you.
- The deposit and the cancellation terms are those of the room: a 25% deposit that is not refundable, the balance 30 days before arrival, and the cancellation terms on our policies page.
- Any package can be booked for any length of stay, for a honeymoon or an anniversary; the nights in its name are a suggestion for how to fill the days.

Can we add a safari or a wedding?
Only the hotel can be booked here. Is the package price per couple or per person?
Per stay, for the two guests of one booking: from US$300 for Matlai Tatu to US$860 for Matlai Kumi Exclusive, on top of the room rate, however many nights you stay.
Is the package on top of the room rate?
Yes. You pay the seasonal room rate with half board for your nights, and the package price once for the stay.
Can we combine the package with the early-bird discount?
No. The package does not combine with other offers, including the 10% early-bird and last-minute discounts.
Can we book a package for a shorter stay, or for an anniversary?
Yes. Any package can be booked for any length of stay, for a honeymoon or an anniversary. The nights in its name are our suggestion for how to fill the days, and the price stays the same however long you stay.
Is the floating breakfast in the pool or in the sea?
In the pool of your villa: breakfast arrives on a tray that floats on the water.
How far ahead do we order the package items?
Tell your butler when you arrive; some items, like the floating breakfast, need a day’s notice, and the butler plans the days with you.
